Our Medicine course has been designed to be a comprehensive, interactive course for the doctors of tomorrow. During this course, students will develop their knowledge and understanding of the world of medicine, through the theoretical and practical skills involved in being a doctor. Students will focus on the study of human biology, the analysis of patient symptoms and the response of key medical issues. As well as receiving a certificate and report at the end of their stay, students will leave with a First Aid qualification.
Oxford College Summer School’s International Relations programme is a unique two week residential programme situated in the heart of historic Oxford.
We have created our Medicine programme at Oxford College Summer School for the doctors of tomorrow. This innovative and forward-thinking course enables students to both learn the theory and start to develop practical skills needed to be a doctor. This course integrates knowledge of the world of medicine with key academic skills and competencies throughout the programme, including independent learning, critical thinking and scholarly writing. Additionally, all students will leave with a recognised First Aid qualification.
At Oxford College Summer School, our dynamic tutors ensure that the Medicine programme focuses on learning through communicating, meaning that all students participate actively in spoken English at all times.
Throughout the course students will run through hypothetical and practical situations, in order to develop their ability to identify symptoms, analyse findings and diagnose their patients. Our Medicine students will carry out tests, draw conclusions and present their findings to their fellow consultants.
It is of great importance for our Medicine students to consider the role of medical professionals in a wider, ethical context. Throughout the course students will look at topical issues involving public health and medical ethics and will develop key skills in presenting their own ideas and forming clear, cogent arguments. This should enable students to feel well equipped to deal with ethical medical questions, both in a university and professional setting.
Medicine at Oxford College Summer School will make you better equipped to study Medicine at university. The practice of Medicine offers a vast range of academic and professional pathways, such as becoming a doctor, dentist, surgeon or pharmacist.
This programme will provide you with a platform to acquire knowledge of the subject, as well as guidance and advice on how you can realise your future medical aspirations.
