Explore British Culture

In addition to our varied Social Programme, students will have two full day excursions per week during their course (excluding the departure week when they have one), giving them the opportunity to visit a number of iconic cities and experience some of the UK’s top tourist attractions. At Oxford College Summer School, students will visit one of the following destinations:

Brighton Pier sign


A trip to the famous seaside town of Brighton! Our students will begin their day with some shopping time around the Lanes shopping district, a part of the city’s historic quarter, to explore the alleyways and independent boutiques. After, students will take a ride on the British Airways i360, a 162 metre observation tower, for a panoramic view of Brighton and the South Coast of England. Students will finish their trip with some time to relax on the beach before having their dinner on the famous Brighton Pier.

Bristol Science Museum


There is so much to see and do in Bristol with its vibrant waterside, fascinating history and fabulous shopping centre. Students will have time for shopping in the Cabot Circus Shopping Centre, before taking a sightseeing boat trip down the River Avon. Our college students will also benefit from a visit to the SS Great Britain Museum, the world’s first great ocean liner designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel!

Cambridge University


Boasting one of the world’s most prestigious universities, the city of Cambridge is full of history and charm. Students will spend the day admiring the beautiful architecture and majestic college buildings found in this famous university city. Students will be taken on a traditional chauffeured punting tour through the heart of Cambridge before taking part in a Treasure Trail around the city to learn more about this historic city. Students will also have time for shopping and socialising before returning to college.

A visit to the wonderful city of Bath with its beautiful architecture, fascinating history and great shopping. Students will spend the morning visiting the famous Roman Baths, one of the most popular tourist attractions in the UK, to visit the natural thermal spring and learn the history of this remarkably preserved spa of the ancient world. Afterwards, students will enjoy lunch in the picturesque Royal Victoria Park, before some free time to explore the city with their friends.

London Excursions

London’s diverse cultural energy makes it one of the most international and visited cities in the world, and is the perfect addition to any visit to the UK. All Oxford College students will see some of the UK’s most iconic landmarks with at least one of our full day London excursions. Our London excursions include:

Oxford College students at Greenwich Museum

London Greenwich Excursion

This excursion begins at the centre of the world and provides panoramic views of London. After exploring Maritime Greenwich, a world heritage site, students will take a sightseeing cruise along the Thames in to the very heart of London and Covent Garden.

London Knightsbridge Excursion

Students have the choice of exploring either the incredible Natural History Museum, the Science Museum or the Victoria and Albert Museum. After their museum visit, students will have time to shop on London’s famous Oxford Street.

London British Museum Excursion

Students will spend the morning exploring the famous British Museum which houses a vast collection of world art and artefacts, before an opportunity to explore the attractions and boutique shops in Covent Garden.

London Kew Gardens

The day starts at the beautiful Kew Gardens, where students can explore the world’s most famous botanical gardens and visit the iconic glasshouses, historic buildings and rare plants. Afterwards students head to Oxford Street for an unrivalled shopping experience.

London West End Shows

After dinner at a London restaurant each London excursion ends with a visit to experience the unique atmosphere of London’s famous West End and see a spectacular show. Previous West End Shows have included:
