In addition to our varied Social Programme, students will have two full day excursions per week during their course (excluding the departure week when they have one), giving them the opportunity to visit a number of iconic cities and experience some of the UK’s top tourist attractions. At Oxford College Summer School, students will visit one of the following destinations:
A trip to the famous seaside town of Brighton! Our students will begin their day with some shopping time around the Lanes shopping district, a part of the city’s historic quarter, to explore the alleyways and independent boutiques. After, students will take a ride on the British Airways i360, a 162 metre observation tower, for a panoramic view of Brighton and the South Coast of England. Students will finish their trip with some time to relax on the beach before having their dinner on the famous Brighton Pier.
There is so much to see and do in Bristol with its vibrant waterside, fascinating history and fabulous shopping centre. Students will have time for shopping in the Cabot Circus Shopping Centre, before taking a sightseeing boat trip down the River Avon. Our college students will also benefit from a visit to the SS Great Britain Museum, the world’s first great ocean liner designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel!
Boasting one of the world’s most prestigious universities, the city of Cambridge is full of history and charm. Students will spend the day admiring the beautiful architecture and majestic college buildings found in this famous university city. Students will be taken on a traditional chauffeured punting tour through the heart of Cambridge before taking part in a Treasure Trail around the city to learn more about this historic city. Students will also have time for shopping and socialising before returning to college.
A visit to the wonderful city of Bath with its beautiful architecture, fascinating history and great shopping. Students will spend the morning visiting the famous Roman Baths, one of the most popular tourist attractions in the UK, to visit the natural thermal spring and learn the history of this remarkably preserved spa of the ancient world. Afterwards, students will enjoy lunch in the picturesque Royal Victoria Park, before some free time to explore the city with their friends.
London’s diverse cultural energy makes it one of the most international and visited cities in the world, and is the perfect addition to any visit to the UK. All Oxford College students will see some of London’s most iconic landmarks and enjoy a popular West End Show, with at least one of our full day London excursions. London Greenwich Excursion
This excursion begins at the centre of the world! Starting at the Zero Degrees line of longitude at Greenwich, students are brought close to the financial heart of the city at Canary Wharf. Students will learn about London’s great maritime history during a visit to the Royal Maritime Museum. After a picnic lunch in the beautiful riverside park, students will take a leisurely cruise along the Thames to central London, taking in some of the capital’s major sights. After time for shopping and exploring, students will enjoy dinner in a London restaurant before a visit to London’s famous West End, to see one of the captivating performances.
London Knightsbridge Excursion
This excursion begins with a morning at the beautiful Kew Gardens, where students can explore the world’s most famous botanical gardens and enjoy the iconic glasshouses and rare and beautiful plants. Afterwards, students will have time to shop along Oxford Street, one of the most famous shopping streets in the world. Following dinner in a London restaurant, the day is then topped off with a visit to experience the unique atmosphere of London’s famous West End, and see a spectacular show.
